What Are Bra Petals?
Bra petals, also called breast petals or pasties, are lightweight silicone patches that stick to and cover a woman's nipples and areolas. High quality bra petals are made with 100% silicone gel and can be worn more than one hundred times before replacement. The petals are skin colored with a smooth, natural look and can even be worn with sheer tops. Unlike with bras, once the petals are applied to the nipple, you should not be able to feel their presence. Many women choose to wear bra petals because they find that bras are uncomfortable, do not fit well, or show through the shirt they are wearing.
Choosing the Right Bra Petal
There are several brands at varying price points for breast petals. When deciding which one to purchase, consider the following:
- The size of the petal–will it completely cover your areola?
- The color of the petal–choose a shade that best matches your own skin tone.
- The opacity–if you can see your fingers through the petal when held up to the light, your nipples may still show in a sheer blouse. Choose a petal that is opaque enough to provide adequate coverage.
- The thickness of the petal–the best petals are ultra thin and blend into your breast. If the petal is too thick, it will show through your shirt and appear as if you have giant, exposed areolas.
Some petals last longer than others. The best way to determine each petal's length of usage is to read reviews and/or test them yourself. Buy one pair of petals and see how long they last before the stickiness wears off. A quality set of bra petals will last two months or more before they lose adhesion.
