Lab Testing
In the medical world, there are many different tests that can be done in clean rooms in order to diagnose certain ailments. Some tests are more common than others. Microbiology tests involve gathering specimens and testing them for certain diseases. We will discuss three of the major types of microbiology tests. These are antigen detection, molecular detection and rapid biochemical tests.
#3 Antigen Detection
Antigen detection tests done in clean rooms are used to determine if an individual has an infection. The tests do this by measuring the amount of antibodies in the body. If there is an elevated number of antibodies, the body is likely to be suffering from an infection. It will be in a state of immune response. If the number of antibodies is normal or lower than usual, then the individual is unlikely to be suffering from any type of infection.
#2 Molecular Detection
This type of testing is also known as nucleic acid testing. It measures the amount of microorganisms in the body and takes anywhere from a few hours to a few days to perform the test. It is used to detect disease within the body and the analysis must be performed in clean rooms. Generally speaking, molecular detection tests are more expensive to perform then other types of microbiological tests. This is because they deal with DNA itself.
#1 Rapid Biochemical Tests
Rapid biochemical tests are another useful type of laboratory test that can be used to diagnose. One of the most common types of tests is a urine analysis test. This rapid biochemical test measures the amount of nitrites in the urine. This is used to detect whether or not there is a urinary tract infection. When the body has a UTI, the nitrates in the urine are transformed into excess nitrites. This is one of the most common rapid biochemical tests and helps to diagnose infection.
